Roxy was chosen because it sounded like a punk band or club (presumably Roxy Music and The Roxy, respectively), and is also the name of CEO Bob McKnight's and founder Alan Green's daughters. Roughly 30% of Quiksilver's sales comes from the Roxy line.

Since its inception, Roxy has become the largest action sport fashion company for young women. [citation needed] In addition to apparel, it now also produces accessories, home goods, hardgoods (snow and surf), wetsuits, footwear, books, and perfumes. It has sub-brands for its kids' ranges, Roxy Girl and Teenie Wahine.

In the spring of 2013, the collection "DVF loves Roxy" was launched as a limited edition collaboration line of beachwear and accessories.
