Roxy was chosen because it sounded like a punk band or club (likely Roxy Music and The Roxy, respectively), and it is also the name of CEO Bob McKnight's and founder Alan Green's daughters. About 30% of Quiksilver's sales come from the Roxy line.

Since its inception, Roxy has become the largest action sportswears company for young women. It has sub-brands for its children's lines, Roxy Girl and Teenie Wahine.
